Coffee Pot Restaurant

16-20 New Regent Street Phone 790-087 8.Y.0.

HANS PETROVIC)

The Coffee Pot Restaurant has been established in the centre of Christchurch long enough to assume that many people know where it is and

what kind of basic, homecooking fare it serves. Two decades ago. I am told, this upstairs restaurant in New Regent Street occassionallv had trailing along the footpath a queue of hungry customers waiting for a plate of its English-oriented, conservative solid goodies.

Despite a number of changes of management since then, the Coffee Pot still serves up — as its basic meals — a small selection of

roasts, accompanied by a wide array of vegetables. Indeed, the’ vegies still seem

to take up more of the plate than the meat. Probably due to inflation,

the prices have gone up but the offering is still sufficient to content the customer.
