Signs left to fade
PA Wellington Nature is being relied on to solve Wellington's Athletic Park advertising dispute. The huge Broadlands signs painted behind the goal-lines at each end of the field are slowly fading as the grass grows.
Television New Zealand said yesterday that it would cover today's Ranfurly Shield match ’ between Wellington and Taranaki. Speaking from Auckland, the controller of news, current affairs and sport. Mr Bruce Crossan, said he understood from the rugbyunion that "every effort" would be made to remove the signs before the match, and for this reason television coverage would go ahead. "Every effort," as interpreted by the Wellington Football Union, means that the signs will be left to fade naturally, rather than be removed by other means.
