Prisoner recaptured
After a car chase through the streets of Lyttelton, an escaped prisoner from Paparua Prison was recaptured by the police last evening. The man, Hudson Hill, was seen driving towards Lyttelton, at 6 p.m. by an off-duty traffic officer, who alerted the Lyttelton police. A police car gave chase in
Lyttelton. Hill jumped from his car while it was still in motion in an attempt to flee. He was stopped by a member of the public, and handed over to the police. The car was stopped when it ran into a truck parked on the roadside. Hill escaped from a work party at Paparua Prison at 8.30 a.m. on Monday.
