Old Boys win
Vistalite High School Old Boys stamped itself as the potential winner of the senior mens Christchurch basketball competition with another easy win at Cowles Stadium last evening. After a reasonably even first half when it led by only 29-21, Old Boys proved its class in the remaining 20 minutes and won clearly, 69-37. Other senior winners were Aranui, Collins Real Estate University and Butler Auto-Spares Y.M.C.A. The margins in all games were clear-cut and the standard was the best seen in club competition .in some
weeks. Results: Aranui 78 (A. Bennett 22, B. Nops 16); Mairehau 59 (N. Seaward 16, M. Hall 14). Half-time 39-29 Aranui. University 65 (G. Gordon 22, J. Caldwell 14); Timaru 43 (G. Austin 12, G. Hall 10). Half-time 3118 University. Old Boys 69 (M. Searle, D. Barry, J. Wealan, H. Thomson, E. Manco, A- Manco 8); Checkers 37 (J. Eder 16, S. Edwards 6). Halftime 29-21 Old Boys. Y.M.C.A. 65 (C. Green 18, J. Bosch. C. Green 12); Rangiora 58 (J. Hill 20). Half-time 30-22 Y.M.C.A.
