Western Samoans
Sir,—The customary issuing of statements to the press by Ministers of the . Crown is a normal occurrence these days. A number of those , have expressed alarm over the impending authority given to
Western Samoan citizens to enter this country as New Zealand citizens. Until now the system has been attacked by implying that regulations will be brought in to upset this situation. I deplore the weekend report niade by our Prime Minister after consultations with the Prime Minister of Western Samoa — pressing him in big brother style to accept the inevitable. That it is people who are about to be deprived of their rights is obvious. However disturbing may be the implications' for the peace and quiet of our society I cannot envisage any of the signatories to the Declaration of Human Rights condoning such tampering with the decision of the Privy Council — Yours, etc., R. P. ANKER. August 16, 1982.
