Investors on sideline
Although rises outnumbered fa!is.,and the N.Z.U.C. industrial index rose, investors remained on the sidelines yesterday assessing Thursday evenings Budget. Apart from the sale of 374.000 Landmark contributing shares, the market, was quiet, and there was only 101 issues traded. Christchurch Gas rose 65c to 375 c in response to the offer from Welgas Holdings. Finance issues were firmer; BNZ Finance rose 30c, CBA Finance 10c. and Marac Ic. Dominion Breweries was 2c easier, but Lion Breweries was untraded, on the higher liquor prices. Rothmans firmed lc in spite of the price increases for tobacco. Brierley Investments recovered 9c. after losing ground. Landmark, which accounted for about 58 per cent of the total turnover, lost lc.
