Flamengo’s challenge
NZPA-Reuter Rio de Janeiro The World soccer club champion, Flamengo, has challenged the World Cup winner, Italy, to a friendly match in September and possibly another later in the year, according to the club administrator, Domingo Bosco. Bosco said yesterday he would be going to Rome on Sunday to try to arrange the fixtures. Flamengo. which won its title last December beating England's Liverpool, 3-0, in
Tokyo, has in Zlco, Junior and Leandro three of the Brazilian national side knocked out of the World Cup by Italy on July 5. Bosco said that if the Italian national side was not available, another option would be to play the Italian club, Juventus, which would have the World Cup stars, Michel Platini of France, and Zbigniew Boniek, of Poland, along with the Italian national players, Paolo Rossi, Dino Zoff, Claudio Gentile, Antonio Cabrini, Gaetano Scirea and Marco Tardelli.
