Retreat in prices continues
Share prices continued to retreat in moderately active trading on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday. An indication of the mood of the market was PDL Holdings losing 5c to 330 c in spite of reporting record sales and profits in its latest year. N.Z. Forest Products eased a further lc in reaction to its pessimistic, but honest, annual report. Among other market leaders, Andrews and Beaven, Fletcher Challenge. New Zealand. Steel, U.E.8., and Wattle all fell 3c. Alliance Textiles continued to firm, and D.1.C., Scott Group, and Winstone also rose. The N.Z.U.C. industrial index lost a further 4.97 points to close at 625.23.
