Production change

Conformity in the production of tyres in the rubber industry has meant delays in the supply of certain sizes. The main size affected is the 13-inch tyre, used by a wide range of older cars. Before, several firms made the same sizes in tyres, but now the bigger producers are to make one line each. "This may cause delays from time to time, but there is not a car we will not be able to fit." said a local tyre supplier, Mr Don Grindley. Some lines will be discontinued. but by using other

tyre sizes vehicle-owners should be able to overcome any problems of supply. For example, the 750 by 13 tyre will go out of production, but owners of Wolseley and Mercedes Benz cars which use this size can use 185 by 13 radials with 381 b pressure, or 670 by 13 crossply tyres as substitutes. Mr Grindley said that there was not a tyre they did not have in stock, and for sizes that were out of production, there were plenty of options open to the vehicle owners.
