Practical help for W.E.A.
Staff of the University of Canterbury have been asked not to take money for helping the financially troubled Workers’ ' Educational Association.
The university’s information officer, Mr Eric Beardaley, said that the Canterbury branch of the University Teachers’ Association, at a meeting last evening, asked its members not to accept payment for giving lectures or other services until the W.E.A. could afford to pay them.
. The meeting also called on the Government to restore its financial support to the W.E.A. as soon as possible. The Canterbury W.E.A lost about a quarter of its budget when the Government cut its grants last month.
