PA Whangarei A contract to build a dredge for the Taranaki Harbour Board has been won by Whangarei Engineering and Construction, Ltd. The firm also tendered unsuccessfully for two barges for the board, but is confident of winning another contract for a new tug for the board. The 37-metre-long dredge is the floating pontoon type, with hydraulically-operated legs to anchor it to the sea bed. Its bucket will be able to dredge to a depth of 20 metres. It is due for delivery at the end of next year.
