Electrical safety
The effects of an electric shock on a person in or near water are likely to be even more serious than in other locations. Bare feet, minimum clothing and wet skin lower the body's electrical resistance. For these reasons, it is vital that all electrical equipment is installed correctly and properly maintained. In some cases, the mains may have' to be up-graded to meet the additional electrical demands of a spa pool. The electrical installation for a spa pool will include wiring for a filter, heater.
and lighting requirements. An electrician should install the wiring and when completed this should be inspected by the power supply authority. Do not tolerate temporary electrical arrangements. Electrical installation can deteriorate because of the chimicals in the water, so .an inspection should be carried out at least every two years. Extension lead plugs and plug sockets should not be allowed to lie on damp ground where moisture and water may collect. All protective and waterproof covers should be kept in place at all times.
