Mayfield to go automatic

Wellington reporter Mayfield telephone subscribers will receive automatic service from the morning of August 11. The new exchange will give 302 of the 306 subscribers individual service, with the remaining four on two party lines. Toll-free calling to Ashburton and the 111 emergency service will be introduced. The exchange will also serve the Mount Somers and Springburn areas. Those subscribers will also have tollfree calling to Ashburton.and the 111 emergency service.
