Bleak, dry June at Lincoln

Canterbury had a bleaker, drier June than usual, according to weather observations taken at Lincoln College. Only 84.8 hours of sunshine were recorded, compared with the monthly average of 113 hours. A persistent anticyclone which covered New Zealand during the middle of the month brought prolonged periods of light winds. In spite of generally overcast skies, the mean temperture 'of s.7deg C. was usual for the' time of year. The temperature ranged from 20deg to —4.4 deg, with frosts on 17 days.
