Suspicious fire
Detectives are investigating a suspicious fire in a University students' hall of residence at 100 Waimairi Road. Ilam. The fire was discovered soon after 6 p.m. on Monday. The fire caused moderate damage to a bedroom in a ground-floor accommodation block at College House, part of the Christchurch College
complex. Firemen from the Sockburn. Harewood, and headquarters stations rushed to College House in response to an automatic fire alarm and an 111 emergency call. No-one was in the room when the fire was discovered. Fire safety officers have joined the police in the investigation into the fire.
