Canterbury’s No. 2 man, Craig Hibbert, had to call on his sister for assistance when he met Robyn Blackwood (Auckland), the top New Zealand woman, in an exhibition squash match in Christchurch billed as “the battle of the sexes.” Hibbert borrowed a dark curly wig and various other items of female apparel which he modelled in a clowning warm-up. However, he changed into more conventional attire for the match proper and went on to beat Miss Blackwood in four games. Miss Blackwood comfortably won the South Island women’s title for the first time at Oamaru on Sunday.
