Trespass charges

PA Palmerston North Five of the people evicted by police from a Palmerston North . City Council staff house on June 11 pleaded not guilty to trespass charges when they appeared in the District Court at Palmerston North yesterday.

Peter James Marshall Paleaae, aged'2s, Philip John Sergent, aged 21, Richard Hamish Steedman, aged 21, Pauline Mary Royal, aged 19, and Elizabeth Williams, aged 18, all unemployed and of no fixed abode, were remanded by Judge K. H. Mason until August 17 for defended hearings.

Williams also pleaded not guilty to a charge of resist' ing a police officer.

Another young woman. Hinewai Heremai, aged 17, co-ordinator, of Palmerston North, also appeared on charges related to the eviction.

Police allege that she behaved in a disorderly manner, intentionally damaged a policewoman’s hat and resisted a constable. She pleaded not guilty to the three charges and was remanded until August 17 Three juveniles, alleged to have been squatting with the five adults, denied trespass charges when they 7 appeared in the Children and Young Persons Court on Tuesday. They were remanded to appear in the same court on August 26.
