Pamphlet
Sir,. — In defending misleading statements to my daughter, Alan Wilkinson (June’ 16) actually supports, my contention. Unless he finds The 28' per cent increase in miscarriages (his figures) acceptable. The pamphlet states: “If the abortion has been competently performed there is no reason you can’t bear a child if and when you want to.” -This is untrue. Mr Wilkinson directs his defence to - statistics on mid-trimester '. spontaneous abortion signoring complementary statistics on premature :, labour, low: birth-weight? and. associated risks of higher mor-; tality. It is no more true to say this will happen in every case than it is to say that it will not happen. Mr Wilkinson allows himself to be mislead by accepting a part truth as the ' whole truth. In defending) vacuum aspiration as apposed to D and C, he ignores that each requires dilation of the cervix. In attacking S.P.U.C. he conveniently overlooks my objections should they hand my daughter a misleading -pamphlet. — Yours, etc.,
R. P. DALZIEL. June .16, 1982.
