Housing package dashed
PA Auckland The hope that a new housing package would be made before the end of the month appears to have been dashed by Mr Quigley's resignation. The key speaker at a Neil Holdings. Ltd. luncheon on June 30. Mr. Quigley .was expected to reveal “farreaching" changes to the Housing Corporation, and other elements of a package he had been working on for some time.But now Mr Quigley's list of engagements is in chaos. He had already cancelled an
address to Thursday's Coun- : ties' Association conference i in Dunedin, and it was doubtful that he would attend the < function on June 30 at all. should be controversial and interesting." said Mr White. Mr White said that he and others in the building industry had always admired the Minister, although they had not always agreed with his policies. “He is a man of considerable integrity, and we had some rapport with him. I wish him well." he said. The new Minister of Housing (Mr Friedlander), who is a member of the caucus housing committee, was not expected to make any policy statements on housing for “some weeks." aides said.
