Feltex strike ends
Production of . carpets resumed at the Upper Riccarton factory of Feltex Carpets New Zealand, Ltd, yesterday, after a one-day strike by the' 550 workers on Tuesday. ' Workers in the setting department at the factory had been on strike for a week,, and the rest of the workers struck in support over warnings about errors in work. The workers were annoyed because the warnings were
being issued under the termi-nation-of-employment clause in the award, when they felt that they were already being penalised by’ losing their bonus pay while correcting errors. The company and the Canterbury Woollen Mill Workers' Union have agreed to negotiate criteria to be used in future cases of workrelated errors. The negotiations will start in Wellington on Tuesday.
