Canty shooters nominated
PA Wellington Twelve nominations for the Commonwealth Games shooting team have been made by the National Shooting Federation of New Zealand. i Canterbury's John Woolley, i the present' Commonwealth I Games skeet champion, is ; among them. . Woolley has been compet- : irig in Europe and. more ! recently, in Australia where 7 he won the Australian International Shooting Union's skeet championship in April with a world class score of 197. Each of the nominees was chosen after a rigorous series -,of trials conducted over two years.
In a. new departure at Brisbane, the teams matches will be shot as separate matches to the normal individual events.. The nominations are: Fullbore rifle: John Hastie (Hastings) and John Whiteman (Wellington). Smallbore rifle: Jack Scott (Pareora) and Leon Griebel (Blenheim). Clay target — skeet: John Woolley (Christchurch) and Paul McGowan (Gore). Clay target — trap: Robin Collins (Matamata) and Graham dealer (Rotorua). Pistol: Barry Wickens (Auckland), Rex Hamilton (Auckland). Murray Trowbridge (Christchurch) and Bob Shepherd (Hastings).
