Millen out of rally

NZPA staff correspondent Washington The expatriate New Zealander, Rod Millen, pulled out of a 370 km rally in northeastern Pennsylvania yesterday when his Mazda - RX7 developed axle and tyre trouble on the penultimate stage, when Millen was running second.

The race was won by John Buffum (U.S.) in an Audi Quattro, who has overtaken Millen to lead the points table in the 1982 Sports Car Club of America series. He has four wins to Millen’s two. with seven rallies to go. Millen is now on his wayback to New Zealand to continue his preparation for the Motogard rally.
