The Department of Cardinlogy has a considerable research and development interest and enjoys good facilities to support the physical sciences. A strong liaison has been developed with the Department of Electrical Engineering. University of Canterbury. and it is hoped that this liaison will continue. The appointee will be required to train technical and medical staff in scientific instrumentation and methods, advise on the purchase, maintenance and use of equipment and participate in research and development projects. Some administration ot technical staff activities is also required. The minimum qualification for this position is a Masters degree in science or engineering or an Honours degree in science or engineering with significant relevant experience in the application of physical sciences to medicine. Salary will be in accordance with the Hospital Service Determination applicable to Scientific Officers.
