North Auckland superior
PA New Plymouth A burst of scoring in the closing stages of the match gave North Auckland a comfortable 29-9 win over King Country in a non-compelition rugby match at Te Kuiti on Saturday. Although King Country opened the scoring early in the match with a penalty goal, it could not add to that in the first half and was behind 9-3 at the break.
In the second spell. North Auckland asserted its superiority but it was not until the last 20 minutes that the. King Country defence finally wavered, and the visitors added a further 20 points. North Auckland 29 (K. Woodman 2. C. Semenoff, I. Dunn. A. Armstrong tries; Semenoff 3 conversions, penalty goal) beat King Country 9 (T. Hiriaki try; K. Nankivel) conversion, penalty goal).
