Belmont Stakes
Conquistador Cielo led all the way to win the 12-furlong Belmont Stakes, third jewel in the American Triple Crown. Gato del Sol, the Kentucky Derby winner, was second and Illuminate was third in the field of 11. Linkage, the 2-to-l favourite, finished fourth -New York.
