The Takanini mare. Gold Hope returns to Australian tracks today set to make her mark on the Brisbane winter carnival; the way she dominated at Sydney in the autumn. She has the daunting prospect of carrying 59kg and starting from an outside barrier at 18 in the $35,000 Katies Cup (1200 m and this could prove a real handicap. The Katies is the lead-up to next week’s $150,000 Elders Handicap (1400 m for which Gold Hope is favouurite. — Brisbane.
