Eventide marriage
PA Dunedin ■ Nobody can accuse Amy and Alex Jenkins of rushing into marriage. For the couple, who exchanged rings and vows in a short ceremony at the home, of Captain Rex Johnston, of the Salvation Army, in St Clair, Dunedin, yesterday afternoon, are hardly your run-of-the-mill newlyweds. Mrs Jenkins is 68 and Mr Jenkins is 70. 'v-' Mrs Jenkins, nee Carr, was ,
a widow but Mr Jenkins had been a “confirmed-bachelor.” “We met each other quite a few months ago. We used to go for walks out on the beach and that sort of thing,” Mrs Jenkins said. They have found themselves, a double pensioner flat in Dunedin and will move there in the next few days.’ ' ' ‘ , “At least we are trying to get shifted. There are a lot of things to move.” .
