Nike City marathon
More than 2500 runners will be on the streets of Christchurch tomorrow in Nike City of Christchurch marathon and half marathon which start . from Queen Elizabeth II Park at 10 a.m. and 10.10 a.m. The marathon field will follow the Avon River to Peterborough Street then cut through Hagley Park to join up with Memorial Avenue to Christchurch Airport and return to the Queen Elizabeth II Park. The half marathon turns at Peterborough Street. The race director, Mr Rod Rutherford, said . yesterday that in accordance with the latest LA.A.F. rules times would be called for the marathon runners at 15km, 25km and 35km as well as the 10km, 20km, 30km, 40km and finish (42km). He urged supporters to refrain from following competitors on cycles or in vehicles because of congestion and interference to runners.
