Milkfat payout increases
PA Wellington The Dairy Board will make an end-of-season distribution to dairy companies which will take the average payout for the season to 330 c a kilogram. The basic price for milkfat in wholemilk set for the season by the Dairy Products Prices Authority was 285 c a kilogram. In April, the board sai’d, dairy farmers received an advance payment of 15c. a kilogram in anticipation of the final surplus and in recognition of the need to provide an injection of ready cash after the midsummer drought which affected many dairy areas.
Dairy companies would receive the surplus distribution this month, the board said.
