Warning on heaters

The manufacturer of the Rinnai 9000 L.P.G. heater has warned that gas could leak from that model of heater if the regulator was insecurely fitted. The marketing manager of Rinnai (N.Z.), Ltd, Mr David Hewitt, said problems could arise with the model 9000 L.P.G. heaters made before 1978. He said the heater was not

faulty, but gas could leak if the regulator was not properly screwed into the gas bottle. In heaters made since 1978, a “fail-safe” type regulator has been used by the company which locks onto the gas bottle with a simple switch, and if it is incorrectly fitted the gas cannot flow. Mr Hewitt said the com-

pany had located most of the problem heaters — which they replaced with the safetyregulator — but it was concerned that there might still be a small number outstanding. Owners of the heaters were urged to get in touch with the company, at P.O. Box 13125, Onehunga, or telephone Auckland 661-975.
