Youngest defendant
A seven-year-old boy accused of breaking into a storage yard and setting fire to two boats has gone on trial as the youngest defendant in California history. The boy, James Means, has pleaded not guilty to three counts of arson. 11 counts of malicious mischief, and three of petty theft. A 16-year-old, whose identity has not been revealed, is charged with him. Charges against a 12-year-old in the case were dropped. — -Ventura, California.
