Wholemilk price up 11 p.c.

PA Wellington The Government has agreed to dairy industry recommendations on increasing the wholemilk price 11.6 per cent. The Dairy Board and the Dairy Prices Authority met the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Maclntyre) yesterday to set prices for the new season. After the meeting, the authority’s. chairman, Mr Noel Lough, said that Mr Maclntyre had agreed to the 11.6 per cent increase proposed by the industry. The industry expected a “very satisfactory” season. The rise gives a price of $3.18 a kilogram for whole milk —,52.24 a kilogram for milk fat, and 94c for solids-not-fat.

The rates will apply from June 1, with a possible further increase during the season, following last year’s pattern.
