Twizel Inn to be offered for sale
The Tourist Hotel Corporation will offer the Twizel Inn for sale within a few weeks. The corporation said that it now intended to concen-. trate its efforts in the area at Mount Cook. The future of Twizel would need to be settled before there was much chance of selling the inn, said Mr T. Dimattina, the corporation’s general manager (finance). The corporation’s chairman, Mr R. D. Cox, said from Auckland yesterday that it would not rush into a sale. "The eager seller always loses." he ; said. ' The corporation could af-
ford to “carry" the Twizel Inn temporarily because its other hotels were showing good returns, he said. If was closing the inn because there was nd longer sufficient trade, said Mr Cox. “It was' never really a Tourist Hotel Corporation type of building, but we ran it while there was a big turnover there with all the men employed on the dam sites," he said. The inn could have a future as a family concern, servicing the district. "If a family bought it at a reasonable price and saved on staff, it would show a reasonable profit,” he said.
