Aurlada is steeples fancy
Aurlada is “The Press" selection for the Great Northern Steeplechase at Ellerslie on Monday.
“She’s a great little sticker, and a sure jumper and she had luck all against her when she ran third in the Northern last year,” Allan Brown, the Auckland racing correspondent of “The Press,” said yesterday.
Aurlada finished third in last year’s Great Northern after her rider had been without irons for about 1400 m.
Five days later she was a popular winner of the McGregor Grant Steeplechase. Our Auckland correspondent regards Mr Hickey and Chief Ore as the best of Aurlada’s rivals in the second leg of the special Great Northerns double.
He selects Paul's Boy to win the Great Northern Hurdles, and Stipulation and Van der Hum to run into the minor places.
