Sound trial by Nioami

Special correspondent Hastings Nioami ran a sound trial at Hastings yesterday morning enhancing her chances for tomorrow’s Wanganui meeting.

Galloping was done on the plough , and No. 1 grass. Both tracks were firm. Nioami ran 800 m on her own in 50s and looked to be travelling easily at the finish.

Brenrob rounded off his preparation for the Suzuki Handicap by running 1200 m with Cloudy Lease in Imin 19s, the last 600 in 38s. Brenrob has thrived since winning at Awapuni. Ray Jenkins will again be his rider tomorrow. Cloudy Lease will tackle the June Hurdles as a lead-up to the Wanganui Steeplechase on Monday.

Manuaroha recorded 39s and 38.6 s for two 600 m sprints and was doing her work well at the finish. She has been entered for the O’Neill Handicap at Wanganui but no rider has been confirmed yet.
