McEnroe’s ‘hell’
NZPA , London John McEnroe, apprehensive about the ankle injury which could damage his chances of retaining his Wimbledon title, returned to Britain and took his customery swipe at officials of the All-England Club. McEnroe, in Manchester to compete in the GMC-Moben
Kitchens grass court tournament, his first competition for a month, supported those leading players who are criticising the Wimbledon championships. “Everybody knows what I think about Wimbledon after last year,” he said. “It was a fortnight of hell, the worst of my life and I would not want to go through it again.”
