Maori tour of Wales
Sir—l am getting tired of reading letters from correspondents who still ask why HART does not do this or that and apparently they do not do anything themselves. I am more concerned that the Rugby Union owes the taxpayer millions of dollars after the 1981 tour and only made $300,000 profit to pay it back. I suggest to your correspondent, J. Smith (May 28), that first he decides what his group was actually talking about or was it
just verbal diarrhoea, as football tours (soccer) and rugby tours, are different subjects. Second, I recommend he obtains a reliable dictionary and he will find his question answered. There is all the difference in the world between the adjectives “racial” and “racist.” If your correspondent still has not found hts error, then I suggest he write to the Rugby Union, saying he is a rugby supporter and not a HART supporter and complain about Maori tours, but, on the same selection basis, he will have to complain about teams, selected on the basis of a religious affinity, affinity of attending the same school’ and also the more strictly selective teams selected from those with a university affinity. I hope the Rugby Union's reply will be edifying to your correspon-dent.-Yours, etc.. M. O'NEILL. May 28, 1982.
