Prominent transport man dies in Wgtn

PA Wellington A man who played a priminent part in arranging transport during the 1951 waterfront lockout, Mr Frederick Bognuda. has died, aged about 79. Mr Bognuda headed carriers' organisations during the dispute and managed to keep moving throughout the lower half of the North Island. He acted as co-ordinator between the Government, transport industry, and the Wellington City Council and was awarded the M;B.E. for his efforts.

Mr Bognuda came to New Zealand from Australia early this century and became involved with administration of the transport industry during the 19405. He served as president of the 'Wellington Carriers' Association and later became president of the New Zealand Carriers' Federation for two terms. After his retirement, about 10 years ago. he became an executive member of the Wellington Show’ Association and chairman of its" works committee.
