Tomlinson wins bowls
Noel Tomlinson (Hornby W.M-C) beat Norm Morris (Riccarton W.M.C.), 14r5, in the final of the Canterbury Indoor Bowls Federation’s singles tournament at the week-end. Tomlinson will now represent Canterbury in the national cham-pion-of-champion singles contest
at Wellington on September 11. Morris, a previous winner of the evept, played precise draw bowls, throughout his game. Tomlinson, who had gained narrow wins over Bill Trembath (St Pauls) and Ross McCutcheon (Linwood Intermediate), played with greater versatility to lead
throughout the final. ’ Results—Quarter-finals: R. McCutcheon 7, G. Lange 5; N. Tomlinson 12. P. Shea 2; L. Ashby 10, P. Bennett 5; N. Morris 8, L Harris 4. Semi-finals: Tomlinson 8, McCutcheon 6; Morns 8, Ashby 7. Final: Tomlinson 14. Morris 5.
