The national sharemarket failed to respond to a spate of good company results, and ended the week on a mixed, moderately active note yesterday. The N.Z.U.C. industrial index eased 0.74 points to 663.48, for a net gain on the week of 2.17 points. Bunting rose a further 15c to 265 c on the expectation of its prospects, and James Hardie Impey, TNL Group, and Farmers’ Trading Company all firmed on good profit results. However, Bendon and Carter Holt both eased in spite of reporting increased earnings. Among second-line issues. Deanes Industries lost 10c to 160 c, but Optical Holdings recovered 5c to 47c. Dalhoff and King, which recently reported a big loss, firmed 3c to 38c.
