Sergeant Cribb returns on Two
The bowler hat and squeaky boots are back on the beat.
The redoutable Sergeant Cribb treads the Victorian cobbles once again in a new seies of Granada Television's highly acclaimed drama series, "Cribb,” on Two tonight. From the fog-swirled streets of London to the bracing air of racy New Brighton, Cribb sets out once more to catch the criminals of Her Majesty’s realm. He outwits the criminal classes, out-thinks the best brains in Scotland Yard and — aided by the faithful Constable Thackeray and impeded by his superior, Inspect Jowett — brings the ne’er-do-well to justice virtually single-handed. The new six-part series — played out against lavishly detailed Victorian backgrounds - features adaptations of two “Sergeant Cribb” novels by Peter Lovesey, and four new stories by Peter and his wife Jacqueline.
