Crash compensation
China will compensate the families of the 112 victims of the air crash near the southern resort of Guillin, says the director-general of the Chinese airline, C.A.A.C. Mr Shen Tu told the Xinhua News Agency that it would pay SUS2O.OOO to relatives of each of the 52 Hong Kong and Macao passengers, the five overseas Chinese, and the elderly American couple aboard the wrecked plane. “Dependents of the 45 ‘home Chinese’ passengers and ■ eight crew who died would receive compensation ‘at preferential rates, according to established domestic rules and regulations'.” he said.
