Budget cut for adult education
PA Wellington The National Council of Adult Education would be retained, but its budget would be reduced, the Minister of Education (Mr Wellington) indicated yesterday. Adult education groups have feared the council would fold since the Government announced it would reduce its funds according to the 3 per cent expenditure cuts. But Mr Wellington said the council would remain as an independent agency for informal adult education, and would be restructured. No further details would be released until the council had discussed the matter, he said. The amount of reduction in funds was not disclosed.
