Situations Vacant Situations Vacant J® MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS WELLINGTON BILATERAL AID PROGRAMME AGRICULTURAL PLANNING ADVISER: TONGA (1) Applications are invited for a two-year assignment under the New Zealand bilaterial aid programme for the position of an Agricultural Planning Adviser to the Tonga Government. (2) The appointee will head the Planning Unit of the Tonga Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Fisheries and will be directly responsible to the Director of Agriculture. His duties will include advising the Director of Agriculture on policy and implementation of the agricultural programme; co-ordination of the various aspects of agricultural development in Tonga such as coconut replanting, banana rehabilitation, forestry, livestock and fisheries; evaluation of current projects within the agricultural sector and identification and appraisal of new projects. (3) Applicants should have qualifications and experience in agricultural economics, statistics and management. Experience in tropical agriculture in a developing country is preferable. Horticultural experience is an added advantage. (4) Terms and conditions of appointment, including salary, will be subject to negotiation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Airfares, transfer costs, location and child allowances (where applicable) will be paid. Appointment will be subject to medical clearance. (5) The successful applicant will be required to take up the appointment in July 1982.
