Sign design
Sir, — A recent newspaper report told of the difficulty the Automobile Association has in keeping the road signs intact on the Summit Road. Most New Zealand road signs are of similar design and construction, attached securely by two or three bolts at one end. Might I suggest that the A.A. attach its signs to the upright with bolts through the middle of the sign, thereby lessening the leverage employed by vandals. — Yours, etc., C. D. BATES.. April 28, 1982.
