National Insurance eases
National Insurance eased 2c to 230 c on a moderately active, mixed New Zealand sharemarket, ahead of its interim report which disclosed a 47 per cent decline in final profit. Although the N.Z.U.C. industrial index recovered 3.55 points, leading issues were prominent in both the rises and falls. N.Z. Forest Products firmed 4c, Fletcher Challenge 2c, and Goodman Group sc. but Endeavour and Mount Cook Group lost 10c. McAlpine eased 5c after announcing its cash issue, and R. and W. Hellaby was untraded in spite of reporting losses at its Shortland works. The mining and oil sector was active and easier. New Zealand Oil and Gas shares accounted for more than 30 per cent of the turnover.
