Aust, market steady
The Australian sharemarket staged a repeat of Wednesday’s performance -yesterday, with prices recovering from morning losses to finish on a firmer footing in lacklustre trading. However, brokers said the main factor behind the current market firmness was coming from call options trading. Traders have been exercising options in leading stocks before expiry of the . April series yesterday, and this has bolstered the' heavyweights. Brokers added that unless there is marked improvement on overseas markets, prices are likely to slide today since there is no genuine buying support at present.
