Women’s soccer league
The defending champions, Rangers, gave the newly-pro-moted Western a harsh 5-0 drubbing as an introduction to the Canterbury first division women’s soccer in Christchurch yesterday. In the other first round matches, Nomads were equally convincing as they ’ beat Christchurch United, 8-0, while Halsweli and Avon-Hbrnby
United drew 0-0. and New Brighton beat University, 1-0.. It was surprising that the combined Avon side was held to a draw. ■ Nomads never-looked troubled as they led. 4-0, at half-time in their match. Division two results were. Kaiapoi 2, Nomads B 0; Hornby B 3, Rangers B 0, North Beach A 7, Halsweli B 0, Lincoln, College 6, United 80.
