Warning on West Coast track walk
Greymouth renorter
An Auckland couple recently had to spend a night in the bush while walking the Croesus Track between Blackball and Barrytown.
The Greymouth police said that people attempting to walk the track should realise that it was a full-day trip for a reasonably fit person, and that they should try to leave early to complete the walkin daytime. Senior-Sergeant B. ‘ J. White said that the track, while well defined, ranged from bush country to open tops and adequate clothing, was necessary in case the weather turned cold or wet.
