Pisa is not the only city in Europe that has a leaning tower. The famous Swiss resort of St Moritz has a church tower with a similar problem. Since an earthquake in 1976, the tower has started to tilt at a rate of 0.01 of a degree every year. In order to halt the process, it is planned to strengthen the underpinning of the building, at a cost of about $680,000.
